I am a computer scientist, team lead, and software developer.

I earned a computer science doctorate from the University of Karlsruhe (TH) in 2009, then was a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Pretoria. Since 2011 I am with TWT GmbH Science and Innovation where I am head of Data Management, Portals & Processes.

On this site you will mostly find information about my academic work. I am interested in programming languages, software engineering, artificial intelligence, and data science.

I authored the Zhi# programming language – the first object-oriented programming language with inherent support for ontologies.






Consider attending or submitting to the 1st Workshop Industrial Applications of Artificial Intelligence (IAAI'17). This event will be held in conjunction with the 17th conference Datenbanksysteme für Business, Technologie und Web (BTW)  hosted at Universität Stuttgart in Stuttgart, Germany, on March 06-10, 2017. I am the chair of the program committee.


Consider attending or submitting to Digital Enterprise Computing 2017 (DEC 2017). This event will be held at the Herman Hollerith Lehr- und Forschungszentrum (HHZ), Böblingen, Germany, on July 11 - 12, 2017. I am program chair of the cognitive computing track.
